Sound Of Silence

Have you heard anyone speaking with a sound of silence,
Have you heard anyone singing with a sound of silence,
Have you ever been in a conversation with someone in a sound of silence,
Have you ever listened to someone who talked in sound of silence.

Life goes on for most of us in sound of silence,
You listen and I hear what they speak in the sound of silence,
They hum and whistle and I sing along with them in the sound of silence,
And the chorus of the song we all sing along in the sound of silence.

The raindrops fall here, knowing the rules of sound of silence,
The thunder is as silent as the mute following the sound of silence,
The perky birds chirpy in the morning in a sound of silence,
The night in it’s blanket of darkness listens to the sound of silence.

The inner voice within us screamed out loud in a sound of silence,
None heard, no, not even me, the scream so loud the sound of silence,
The wind blew and touched the flowers in the meadow in the sound of silence,
Like the sweet scent of the earth after the first rain was the sound of silence.

Words of reason muted down by the sound of silence,
Whisper or scream all the same in a dream within the sound of silence,
Loud empty rounds of fire from the canyon cut across the sound of silence,
The flashlight beames into the stillness of darkness with a sound of silence.

Uhmm! What do I say abt myself. Love to read, write, watch tons of movies and loves music. Educated enough to enlighten a few things to a few some who shows the interest to listen. This is me in a nutshell. Will let out little by little, like the cat out of the bag. Ok I think it's time to let out one more passion of mine, which I as much love as writing, and that is cooking. Trying out different new recipies with a slight variation added of mine makes my culinary skills a little adventurous cuisine.

    1. Thank you so much Sri… for such a well explained response …. Thank you for the appreciation for the visual representation of the Silence of Sound….I try to reach those who finds the words of the poem beyond their reach through the pictures I use to represent my words.
Guess some times or rather many a times recently The Sound of Silence has more influence on me than the usual crowd cheers.
In those silent solitude moments I happen to appreciate the Sound of Silence and thus was born these words.

  2. Nicely penned. At first your poem made me immediately think of Simon and Garfunkel’s song “The Sound of Silence”. Yet, your piece develops in a different way, so beautiful and profound. Loved it! By the way, I strongly recommend you and all your followers my friend Mario Savioni’s novel “Pickles and Tarts” (very short chapters, easy to read). It is a story where 54-year-old Frank has been selected by 19-year-old Nicole through a dating site. Frank looks at Nicole’s photos on the site and is attracted to her beauty. Nicole tells him she has a boyfriend and is not interested in a romantic relationship. She adds: “It’s fun to talk to different people sometimes.” The only apparent thing Frank and Nicole seem to have in common is their interest to write stories. Perhaps they want to meet just to write one together? Now Frank has already started to imagine this story, a story-within-the-main-story. “Pickles and Tarts” is a lovely story of illusion-delusion, dream-reality, non-conformist with the Capitalist system, reflective on love, sex, drugs, abuse, loneliness and human relationships in today’s world. It is profound and highly intriguing. I recommend chapters 11 and 12 that especially deal with sexual abuse, bullying and loneliness:

    1. Yes the title kind of reminds of the 1964 song of the same name. Thank you so much Marta… You are kind with your words of encouragement and praise for the work. I would love to drop in and read your friend’s work from the beginning not only the 11th and 12th chapter. Thank you so much for the synopsis of the story and the link. Loved having you here. Please keep dropping in.
      Take care Martha…

      1. You are welcome very kindly, Ana. Yes, please 🙏, read Mario’s work. You have no idea of how important this is to me and to him. Without Mario I doubt I would have taken to poetry and to creating my blog. Also, I wouldn’t have crossed paths with you.

  3. As soon as I saw the name of the poem, I was remembered of Sandeep maheshwari’s video on sound if silence.😂
You know if I ever try to think of this sound, it’s too distracting from routine for me. I kinda get lost thinking. Watch his video when ever free.😉
I am not checking my reader these days so I have to ask people of their posts.😂

    1. I should check this Sandeep Maheshwari’s video… I was not aware of such a video at all. Haha ya and as you said the sound of silence is not everyone’s thing. Don’t even attempt it if you are not comfortable with it.

    1. Wow. None has analysed me so well. It’s as if you could read into me as a person. An extension of my soul perhaps….😉
Simple is I want to be. Flaunting your language can make you a master perhaps but getting into other’s heart’s needs simplicity not masterful skills.
