Count Your Blessings

It was a foggy day. The roads were deserted even though it was morning 8am. She stood alone on the pavement of the deserted road. She shivered inspite of wearing a jacket on top of her formals. Heart in heart she wondered was she quivering because of the bitter cold of the foggy morning or was it because she knew she was kind of alone on the deserted morning road.

She shuddered to think of things she had been hearing over the media and social media about the unsafety of women. When did my country become this bad, she wondered.
She had chalked out her day’s schedule. Waiting for the taxi she had booked her eyes just wandered. She saw a lone gulmohar tree in full bloom. Her heart felt light in an instant. The bloom took her back to her younger days. The carefree days with friends and no tension life. How life changed over. Even before she could go back into her brooding moods the taxi pulled over and she was kind of relieved it did come at the right time, before the happiness the bloom gave her disappeared.

That is all it took her for that day to make her day lighter, the fully bloomed Gulmohar tree.

Life give small happiness in the right time when we need it….be it a smile from a total stranger. OrΒ just a Good morning wish from your friend or a snug fit hug from the one you love.

The bloom of a wild flower on the road side. Birds chirping their perky notes in the wee hours of morning. Simple things like this makes our life worth while. Is there anything sweeter than the feeling that someone remembers you the first thing in the morning and the last thing before their sleep. Feel blessed for such moments for not everyone is blessed this way.

The happiness one feels when you see a long lost bestie, and the love which is poured on you and the tears shed on seeing you after a gap, the arms hugging you and holding on to you in the fear of loosing you again are the genuine feelings one gets once or twice in a lifetime. It kind of rekindles the fact you still means the world to them, irrespective of the absence of your presence. Are you blessed this way. I thank my Lord for blessing me this way.

Gestures of unknown people whom you still know in a strange vibe way who uplifts you in an instant with words which acts like glucose gives you wings for the day.

When life’s trouble beget you the Lord sends sweet gestures in your way in such manners. Instead of always grumbling about the things which bother us and the things we lack, count your blessings, name them one by one and it will surprise you what the Lord has done.

This is kind of an holistic way of self healing from the hurts and the pain we go through. Try it.

Do share how do you get over your hurts and unforgiving moments for the reader’s benefit. Who knows the solution you say might change someone’s approach to life.

Uhmm! What do I say abt myself. Love to read, write, watch tons of movies and loves music. Educated enough to enlighten a few things to a few some who shows the interest to listen. This is me in a nutshell. Will let out little by little, like the cat out of the bag. Ok I think it's time to let out one more passion of mine, which I as much love as writing, and that is cooking. Trying out different new recipies with a slight variation added of mine makes my culinary skills a little adventurous cuisine.

  1. Hi Ana
Well written with deep thoughts and with your lovely signature photos.
All of us get hurt one day or other.Everybody hurts one way or other. This is human nature.
It is said women are more prone to hurt feelings.I am not sure.
The feeling of hurt is more painful than hurt itself !
My feeling is one should let go the hurt feelings instead of nurturing them in the mind. Secondly Focus on to days responsibilities and how best you can lead the life and start counting the blessings ( as you said )
    Thirdly forgive and forget.
Lastly have faith in the Lord.Time is the greatest healer.
    Enjoyed reading.Thank you

    1. Shukriya aap ka ye response bilkul Sach kaha. Yes we indeed are human and we have a human side of not letting go of many a things like hurt, unforgiving nature and our false egos etc not knoekno in no way they harm the other person but in reverse it affects us, our mental peace, our happiness and our smile.
Yes in such occasions counting every small blessings one by one and thanking for them in our life are the best way.

  3. This is y I like ur prose more than the poems, it makes us think and reminds us what we always forget.
The start is very nice and was has the touch of suspense, like always u chose the right words at the right place.
Btw was that morning real ? U conveyed a simple thing wonderfully by urs illustrations..
Trees r really beautiful and remind us about many things of life whether they bloom or not.
I also rarely count on my blessings, ND only desire and think about what I need.
As u have written that simple things can make our lives worthy, I think ur writings r that simple thing.. It always has a meaning and ur brilliant choice of words (-; words acts like glucose really reflects ur intelligence..

    1. Actually the photo of the fog is real and inspired me to write that post. The morning was real up to the fact she was waiting for a taxi and something made her happy…and all other little blessings mentioned below are all true to including the bestie part, morning and night wishes etc.
You are very kind Anonymous to be so appreciative of everything I write…be it prose ya poem. People like you encourage the writer in us and the constant support extended are such a booster.
And the mention of you calling my words glucose reminded of another good soul who constantly provides my daily dose of glucose.
You take care and have a great day…

      1. Interesting who is she? I don’t or maybe, yeah it is true if we don’t have supporting people or enemies thn we don’t seem to get encouraged.
Well who is that dose of glucose?
        I know ur answer still I hope…
Actually it is night. So you have a good night or maybe morning or afternoon whatever…

      2. That ” She” you keep asking about is a mysterious girl ..
Yup what is life without a chase and a crash..
Aha… you know the glucose… you told…then why reveal…but I am cent percent sure you are wrong about it.
Have a good day as of now it’s hot noon…

      3. Ok Some valuable insights, well I guess I can’t win against u bt I will surely draw it out 😎….
Yeah nowadays the temperature has increased, bt u have the required glucose to keep u cool 😏…

      1. Ohh nice to know more about u, bt Kohli does bats well, My mother also gives the same reason fr liking Dhoni coz he is calm and never does overacting… Ms is the most loved cricketer in India actually 😎..btw I prefer ab de villers & I think he is the best…

      2. Your choice is good too. I won’t say anything bad about Kohl’s game or performance, but I feel a man’s character is more important than anything else. I am with your mom too in this.

      3. Bt everyone has a different character, I think we should never judge anyone uness we know them or had a conversation with them… I have listened to his interviews many a times and he shows respect towards everyone. Even when he is outplayed by his opponents he acknowledges his defeat… I agree he over reacts and behaves aggressively bt it is due to the highly competitive game on the field.
Well, he is actually a lot better than most of the players in the indian cricket team.
If we take the example of Hardik pandya lolπŸ˜‚

      4. I mean he doesn’t know when to speak what unlike kohli who gives interviews everytime πŸ˜‰… Outside the field kohli is a fine person… Dhoni has different personality that is y everyone likes him😊..

  4. A well described prose yar.. The road picture just reminds me of my journey with my friends for a long drive…
As said its always the small happiness we receive at times that change our entire mood and its a gift from nature to feel grateful.
Again the imagery who else can do better than you perky.. You nail it with perfection..

    1. Thank you Chirpy… for the encouragement you constantly give me. Yes life’s harshness is much reduced by the presence of such uncountable blessings in life. Everyday wishes of nature being kind has it’s own effect I suppose..
Hope your life is filled with such beautiful moments too. Appreciate your dropping in yaar.
