A Rhyme – For the Rhythm of School life
A walk down the corridor, of the memory of my school,
Gives me the best moment of my life, and I like the feel, .
I came as a tiny little girl to this institution,
Which laid down so much in me along with the basic constitution.
As the weather warmed up, entering the new class in excitement gave me immense joy.
Stepping up the ladder of education one by one, along with games with favourite toy.
Fragrance of new uniform evoked a relaxing effect,
So does the new class room induced the cheerful effect.
The smell of the textbooks, still lingering,
The fear of exams, still frightening,
The sweet Shelly being read out in class,
And there among all, the child in me grew into a lass.
Every day home work, haunts me,
Playing cricket every evening saves me,
News watching, most irritating,
While Shaktimaan excites me stay in touch with television,
As the years passed, childhood faded away into the past.
All the happy and sad moments of high school,
The pimples and the giggles between the girls,
The words unspoken remained within the walls,
The pressure of growing up mixed with the feel of a fool.
As the teenage begins, the Stressful school work Startles,
Regional level sports opportunities starts..
A blossoming smile from crush helped to sail through evening extra classes,
From starting to end teenage was a mere excitement and experiments with the life,
They say these are just another two years, but those are the best memories of my life…..
Chiru & Anamika
Thankyou for this. It is lovely. You took me back too. I
I loved my school days. Well, the later ones, between 11 and 18. Ican still smell the smells. Especially the smell of gas from the gas taps on each desk in the physics and chemistry classrooms. And the memory of dissecting sheeps harts in Biology. Oh yuk! Lol. The rest was okay. Oh, apart from hockey and stuff. I could never run fast enough lol great write here. Thankyou for sharing it with us.

While I didn’t go to school in your region I believe most of the emotions are universal not necessarily some of the memories like the smell of textbooks unfortunately today children will not understand but they may vibe with the beep of the computer or the shine of the iPad. I definitely could feel the cricket match since I played for a few years

Haha…so true. The feelings are always universal regarding schooldays and childhood. Yes the new generation might never get a chance to have the life we had. But we are glad you could relate to our work and especially the cricket game. Thank you so much.

Wonderfully written. Moreover yesterday after the Christmas celebrations were over at school Aishu gave me a small box of dosa and molgapudi thenI came home and relished it. I will miss my friends.

For Chiru,
First of all, I would like to congratulate you for this wonderful Colab with her. This is a mesmerizing poem that is filled with glamour of rhyming words. It indeed reminds us of the best phase of our lives. Those were the days that nobody can forget. She has added her finesse & the blend with you made it the best. There’s a flaw & I will tell her to rectify it.
Hope you both will Colab more often and serve us such delicious things . In one line, I enjoyed this thoroughly.

Fř Anamika,
U hve written it like both of u were in the same school 😂, I love rhyming poems & I can also differentiate the stanza written by u & him 😉… Chiru the crush of cricket is just an amazing person, m glad u also find him exceptional.
The poem made me smile ND I vas literally imagining my school days by reading each line. It is really true that on the first day of r schools we cry & even on the last day 😥…
I really want to go back in those days 😢…
BTW one uggestion is that u should write little child or kid instead of that little girl. Chiru is not a girl 😂😉…
LikeLiked by 3 people
Haha..that’s a compliment, that you felt we were in the school. That shows the gelling was good in the poem and the stanzas complimented each other’s.
Yes Chiru is an.exceptional person..and there is no doubt about it as he was exceptionally helpful and supportive during the collab.
Loved the way you have addressed the response..
Glad you got reminded of your school life and those golden days.
As to your suggestion to write a child or kid instead of girl.
We wrote as our individual memories of our school life and joined together in the poem. So i did write as a girl and he wrote as a boy.
Sadly we didn’t do schooling together, which gave us our individual memories of our school life, but the missing of school life was mutual which brought out this lovely collab.

Ohh u have given a very generous rply , ya it is very good idea & the Colab is also lovely.
Hmm, actually it is common fr everyone institution & constitution 👏. He has not written the word boy anywhere, so it looks odd one out.
U can include little one if u don’t like kid or child 😂. So which one of my feedback do u prefer ur or his ?

I liked both the feedback Anonymous.. .and you were kind enough to address it to both of us individually . Glad to have such open feedback which helps us to grow.

I get that buddy.. it’s like one para from a girl’s point of view and the next is from a boy’s angle… i thought by seeing each para readers will understand one from each…

I know bt that one is common fr both of u & little girl makes it look odd , little one, kid or child will be universal 😂… It is okay like this also 😁

Loved the way you and Chiru did a colab…personally I’ve changed three schools and I haven’t been stable in a particular school so the concept of school and the memories are very close but not so of great weightage. I had to ask whose line was this, “The smell of the textbooks, still lingering,
The fear of exams, still frightening,
The sweet Shelly being read out in class,
And there among all, the child in me grew into a lass.”
Dil aagaya ji is line pe toh….bhot accha likha hain…opening that new textbook felt like unboxing a gift. Every new chapter seemed to be a layer of covering of the awesome gift it was. Thank you for reminding those days. Also, Happy Christmas Eve both of you!

Thank you Piyush….you are always liberal with your words of appreciation. It being a joint effort let’s say it was a jointly written stanza…the memory invoked of the text book is so satisfying all crisply covered with brown sheets. Your way of always mentioning your favourite lines…are really wonderful, it always encourages the writer in us….
Thank you once again for your frank and truthful response. Take care.
