An Ode to The Caring Hands

Like a candle they happily melt,
To give us light, with a smile so bright,
They care with all their might,
Sometimes, even ignoring their plight.

Bless these angels, for their kindness,
For they tenderly cares away your sadness,
While we are weak and sick, with an ailing health,
They are the one’s who tends us back from death.

Their unspoken gestures and smiles,
With a gentle heart and a nature so kind,
Putting away their own health and troubles behind,
They serve with whole hearted willingness across the miles.

They are the one’s whom the world calls Nurses,
But with love, we call them sisters, just like our own,
Who knows their troubles and their worldly cares?
They too are someone dear among their loved ones.

This little poem is a tribute to Lini (31), a nurse at Perambra Taluk Hospital  in Kozhikode Kerala who died on Monday after possibly getting exposed to the deadly virus while tending to a Nipah virus infected patient, died without even getting a chance to bid adieu to her loved ones, including her two kids and husband. Her two children, Sidharth (5) and Rithul (2), couldn’t give their mother one last kiss. Really, one”s heart goes out to this courageous lady and her grieving family. Rendering a selfless service, knowing the risks involved. Salute!

We bid goodbye to you Lini, with a heavy heart, we remember your sacrifice, in a small way this is a tribute to the life you led and showed us.

Well... me... I love to read, write, binge watch tons of movies and series and enjoys good music. Educated enough to enlighten a few things to a few some who shows the interest to listen. Love to explore the unknown territories, to know and understand more. Now busy learning to unlearn. This is me in a nutshell.

    1. Yes Gideon it’s quite painful for her husband and her little children. Many of us are not aware of this noble profession’s other side which is traumatic. The worst part is they are under payed for their job and they have to fight for their rightful pay. May God do his justice in the right time for these noble nurses. Let us all remember these loving sisters and brothers around the world who serves the sick and the needing ailing patients.

  2. This is heartbreaking but beautiful all the same.
It is quite true that not all heroes wear capes. Often overlooked and most times taken for granted, these people put their lives at risk in order to save ours. It’s very thoughtful of you to render such a tribute. God bless your kind heart.
